Case in point? Ortega’s goth-inflected look for tonight’s Met Gala. 

The high-fashion design not only nodded to Wednesday’s style codes with its schoolgirl bow detail at the neck, but also paid homage to a number of the design signatures of Karl Lagerfeld—whose work is being honored in this year’s exhibition, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”—with its black and white palette and preponderance of gold chains and pearls.
