The SodaStream ad starring Scarlett Johansson finally aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday after causing controversy on different fronts.
The 29-year-old actress saw the ad for the Israel-based in-home soda machine manufacturer initially banned by Fox.
The Her star after extolling the virtues of SodaStream during the 30-second spot got in trouble at the end of the banned commercial by saying, ‘Sorry Coke and Pepsi.’
Since both Coke and Pepsi are major sponsors of the Super Bowl, the ad was nixed by Fox unless SodaStream changed the last line.
Scarlett in the ad that aired on Sunday offered a different line and concluded by saying, ‘I just love helping people.’
The Lost In Translation actress on a different front severed her ties with the humanitarian group Oxfam International over her endorsement of SodaStream, which operates in an Israeli settlement in the West Bank – a territory captured by Israel in 1967 and claimed by the Palestinians.
SodaStream has come under fire from pro-Palestinian activists for maintaing a large factory in the West Bank, with some claiming the company has beent taking advantage of the Palestinian residents who have few other employment options.
